Franklin Kyle Perkins, CPA, CVA, CIRA, CMPE
As principal shareholder of FK Perkins & Co., PLLC, Franklin Kyle Perkins draws on over 30 years of professional experience in private industry and public accounting to assist clients in a broad range of tax, accounting, and business management issues. Graduating from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Kyle went on to pursue a Masters of Business Administration degree (Marketing emphasis) graduating with honors from Oklahoma City University in 1998.
Working within the private sector for approximately 20 years, Kyle served in various corporate level positions ranging from Division Controller to VP/Corporate Controller for Operations working closely with management on financial and operational analytics and logistics. As a public accountant, Kyle has capitalized on his private industry experience to connect with business clients in understanding their real time needs. "Our philosophy is to partner with clients in a proactive way striving to insulate their business form the ever changing financial and tax environment" says Kyle.
In 2009, Kyle became certified as a Medical Practice Executive through the MGMA (Medical Group Management Association) to compliment the firm's focus on the healthcare industry and to better assist physician clients in managing their business, thereby allowing them to spend more time on patient care. Kyle has served as an out-sourced CFO for the one of the largest cardiology groups in Kentucky and has extensive experience in developing physician and physician hospital alignment models.
In 2012, Kyle achieved certification as a Certified Valuation Analyst through the National Association of Valuation Analysts (NACVA). Kyle provides clients with valuation reporting and opinions on business entities, lease arrangements, and merger and acquisition opportunities and is uniquely qualified to evaluate merger and acquisition opportunities from the standpoint of the buyer and seller that may exist for either.
Kyle is especially motivated by working with troubled businesses and those businesses that may be considering filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. As a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor, Kyle works with troubled companies on issues ranging from operational analysis to debt restructure. The firm seeks out and engages with such businesses to assist and facilitate the exhaustive financial reporting required by the bankruptcy courts. Working with management and company attorneys, Kyle assists in developing a strong sustainable plan of reorganization acceptable to creditors and the court.
Amy Young, CPA
Amy began working for FK Perkins & Co., PLLC when the Lexington office opened in October 2011. Prior to that, she was employed with Marc E. Craft, PSC, in Lexington for 5 years. She obtained her CPA license in January, 2007. Amy has over 10 years of accounting experience working with small businesses, individuals, and non-profits in the areas of tax, audit, compilations and other various accounting functions. Amy obtained her B.S. in Accounting from the University of Kentucky in 2005, graduating cum laude with departmental honors. In her free time, Amy enjoys traveling, reading, spending time with family and friends and attending various sporting events.
Bryan Gay, Accountant
Bryan Gay chose accounting as a career after spending several years as a senior loan consultant for HSBC. Bryan started with the firm as an intern while attending Eastern Kentucky University, from where he graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor's of Arts in Accounting. Bryan works with small and medium sized business on all aspects of accounting from payroll to accounts payable. Bryan out-sources as a CFO to several companies, including large industrial and manufacturing clients. Bryan is especially interested in the inventory and inventory variance issues facing these dynamic specialized business environments. Bryan is a Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor and works with other recognized accounting software such as Sage Peachtree. Bryan and his wife, Sonya, have two beautiful boys, Colton and Easton, all share Bryan's love of Kentucky Wildcat basketball!
Monty Sears, Special Projects
Charles Monty Sears is a graduate of Cumberland College (now known as the University of the Cumberlands), from which he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Accounting in 1994. Monty specializes in small and medium sized businesses and out-sources as a CFO on behalf of the firm. Monty joined the firm in 2005 coming from private industry where he held numerous managerial positions. Monty specializes in general accounting and financial and payroll reporting for clients as well as client banking and finance needs. By working with client staff, Monty is able to proactively address the accounting, management, and financial needs of the business on a daily basis. Monty is an avid sports enthusiast and is partial to the sport of Kentucky thoroughbred horse racing.
Jodie Perkins, Administrative Staff
Jodie Perkins is the newest addition to the firm. Joining in August 2013 Jodie assists staff with administrative related matters and monitors firm policy related to document management and internal firm accounting. Jodie holds a Bachelor of Arts from Eastern Kentucky University where she minored in Business Administration and has held numerous administrative and management positions throughout her career. Along with being a devoted cat lover, Jodie is an avid artist who enjoys painting and commercial design.
